Eloisa is under an almond tree: The triumph of absurdity.
Some families keep secrets, and then there are the Briones. In this house, common sense is the least common of the senses: you travel without leaving your bed, the servants resign due to excessive eccentricity, and the past has the strange habit of not staying buried.
Mariana, young and impulsive, is attracted to the mysterious Fernando, a man who seems to live in a parallel dimension and whose behavior hides a disturbing shadow: the suspicion of a crime committed years ago under the branches of an almond tree.
Enrique Jardiel Poncela immerses us in an architecture of the absurd where suspense and laughter go hand in hand. Through sharp dialogue and situations that defy all logic, the viewer becomes a detective in a plot that is both an ode to romantic love and a fierce satire of high society. Who is Eloísa? Why does she smell of almonds? And why does no one in this house seem to be in their right mind? Come in and see: sanity is left at the door.
