Sa dragonera, Illes Balears, Spain

(1,351 reviews)

Parc natural de Sa Dragonera is a rugged, uninhabited islet and protected natural park off Mallorca’s southwest coast (access most commonly from Sant Elm). It’s prized for coastal walking trails, dramatic sea cliffs and secluded coves, offering short boat excursions, wildlife watching and panoramic views back to the Tramuntana coastline.

What Makes It Special

The island supports distinctive wildlife, notably endemic Lilford’s wall lizards and important seabird colonies, so visitors often enjoy unusually close encounters with species and pristine Mediterranean habitats not readily seen on the mainland.

Insider Tips

Take an early boat from Sant Elm, wear sturdy footwear, bring plenty of water and sun protection and stick to marked trails—there are no facilities on the islet; a climb to the island ridgeline rewards you with sweeping views and the best chances for wildlife sightings.
