Ses Paisses is an open-air Talayotic archaeological site just outside Artà that displays excavated remains of a prehistoric village dating to around 850 BCE, including circular dwellings, a central talayot (tower) and substantial dry‑stone perimeter walls that reveal the original village layout.
What Makes It Special
The site’s striking cyclopean wall and intact talayot give one of the clearest, most tangible impressions of Mallorcan Talayotic village life—you can walk among house foundations and communal spaces and see construction techniques not visible at many other sites on the island.
Insider Tips
Go early morning or late afternoon for cooler temperatures and better light for photos; wear sturdy shoes and bring water and sun protection because paths are uneven and the site is not wheelchair accessible. Combine the visit with a trip into Artà or the nearby Coves d'Artà for a full day out, and check opening times before you travel.
