Ruta de la Pedra en Sec

Ruta de la Pedra en Sec, 07159, Illes Balears, Spain

Ruta de la Pedra en Sec (commonly known as the GR‑221) is a long‑distance walking route across Mallorca’s Serra de Tramuntana that links traditional mountain villages, terraced olive groves and dramatic coastal viewpoints while tracing the island’s historic dry‑stone walls and paths.

What Makes It Special

What makes it special is its focus on dry‑stone heritage — you walk alongside and through centuries‑old dry‑stone walls, shepherds’ huts (barracas) and restored paths that reveal Mallorca’s rural landscape and traditional stone‑building techniques.

Insider Tips

Plan the route in stages (many walkers do 1–3 day sections), download GPX or carry a good guide, book village accommodation or mountain refuges in advance, and visit in spring or autumn while carrying plenty of water, sun protection and sturdy footwear as some stages are exposed.
