You Promised Me a Love Story is the story of a girl who meets a boy.

Or the story of a boy who meets another boy. Or the story of a girl who meets another girl. Or the story of two people who don't know each other. It's a story that begins in Rome. And a story that begins in Paris. And a story that begins in Poland, on a train car. Well, it's actually the story of a writer trying to write a love story. What's wrong with love stories? Why do they generate attraction, even addiction, in some people and repulsion in others? What have they taught us about love? Why do those stories that once seemed romantic now seem like horror stories? Can you write a love story, a contemporary love story, and survive the attempt?
