Anna Solo (Late Oral Cycle of Mallorca Literary)

A review of the career of the singer-songwriter from Menorca with a solo concert featuring songs from her recent projects: “PA” and “Parenòstic,” among others, as well as songs from the popular repertoire that have not been recorded in any of her own projects but have accompanied her since the beginning of her relationship with music. Born in 1993 in Menorca, Anna Ferrer is one of the most unique voices in the contemporary Catalan folk scene. Raised in close connection with the oral tradition of her island, she deepened her musical training at the Taller de Músics in Barcelona, where she specialized in jazz singing. These two roots—the Menorcan folklore and modern jazz aesthetics—define her unmistakable style. With her debut solo album ‘Tel·lúria’ (2017), she paid tribute to Menorca; with ‘Krönia’ (2019), she opened folklore to a more universal sound through electronic sound processing. She also explored the thresholds of song and roots in ‘Parenòstic’ (2024). Her most recent project, ‘PA’ (2025), arises from the need to ritualize the transmission of the family craft: four generations of bakers.
