'The Conversation of the Birds' with Delgoshâ. Taghi Akhbari
Event Information
Concert-recital with Taghi Akhbari based on the poetry of the Persian mystic Farid ud-Din Attar The Conference of the Birds, one of the great works of the Persian mystical tradition recently translated into Catalan by Carles Duarte, offers a narrative filled with brief illustrative and exemplary stories, of the journey undertaken by the birds, guided by the hoopoe, towards the Simurgh, the mythical bird that, having lived for thousands of years and survived successive destructions of the world, embodies memory and wisdom. Delgoshâ is the trio formed by Taghi Akhbari, trained in Tehran and Paris following the Persian tradition. One of the eminent performers of classical Persian singing, dedicated to the musical tradition of Iran, and the musicians Nâder Aghakhâni — strings — and Pierre Blanchut — percussion. Their proposal bridges Persian and Western traditions while establishing a dialogue with texts from Western mysticism, for example, Hildegard of Bingen or Saint John of the Cross. Taghi Akhbari is one of the most unique voices in the search for the confluence between Christian mysticism and Sufism.
