5th edition of WIPEOUT: festival encompassing film, music, surfing, sports, art, and sustainability

Calvià hosts the 5th edition of WIPEOUT, a festival that encompasses film, music, surfing, sports, art, and sustainability. Peguera will offer, from September 30 to October 3, a wide program including a skatepark, workshops, surf market, food trucks, DJs, exhibitions, and live art. The European surfing reference, Adur Amatriain, will lead the roundtable discussions at an event that will also feature the presence of the prestigious director Laerke Heilman. This new edition of the festival will bring a comprehensive audiovisual program related to surfing and ocean culture to the Calvià area. For four days, the festival will bring together international cinema, live music, sports, art, gastronomy, and a strong environmental commitment, with the participation of 90% of the marine NGOs of the islands, establishing itself as a key meeting point for the surf community and all sea advocates. The program includes a skatepark, workshops, surf market, food trucks, DJs, exhibitions, live art, and activities for all ages, highlighting especially the Paddle Out, a collective action of advocacy, representation of Balearic marine NGOs, and linked to the Pacte Blau Balear. One of the main highlights of this edition will be cinema, with an international selection of documentaries and short films that broaden the perspective on surfing and the ocean. Among them stands out Women & the Wind, an internationally awarded documentary that follows the journey of three women across the North Atlantic and will feature Laerke Heilman, one of its directors, as a special guest of the festival. The film program is completed with titles such as Makai, about identity, diversity, and racism in the surfing world; GUTS, by Italian documentarian Patrizia Bruno; Through Clouds and Water, From Dust to Dream, about new ways to build surfboards with less environmental impact; and Water, Get Enemy?, directed by Daniel Obasi, which portrays a new generation of surfers in Takwa Bay, Lagos. Music will be another major focus of the festival and will have one of its most anticipated moments on Saturday, October 3, with the performance of L.A., one of the most recognized names in the current Mallorcan music scene. The band will share the stage at Plaza Torà with Los Pucheros Atómicos in a day that will combine open-air cinema and live music by the sea. WIPEOUT was born as a gathering around surfing and the ocean, but its proposal has grown to become a space where culture, sports, music, and environmental awareness converge.
