Three Kings Parade (Cavalcada de Reis), island‑wide
Event Information
The Three Wise Men arrive by boat and parade through towns, throwing sweets to children. Palma’s cavalcade departs from Moll Vell around 18:00 and winds through Passeig del Born. Families exchange gifts on Epiphany (6 Jan) and children leave shoes out to receive presents.
Arrival of the Kings: The festivities begin at 18:00 when the Three Kings (Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar) traditionally arrive by boat at Moll Vell (the Old Pier, near the Cathedral).
Arrival at Town Hall: Their Majesties usually reach the final destination at the Town Hall (Plaza de Cort) around 20:15–20:45 PM to greet the crowds from the balcony.
The Parade Route The parade winds through the historic center of Palma. While slight variations can occur based on city planning, the typical route is as follows:
Start: Moll Vell / Avenida de Antoni Maura (The Kings disembark from the historic schooner Rafael Verdera).
1. Passeig del Born: A major hub for spectators.
2. Plaça del Rei Joan Carles I: (The "Turtle Square").
3. Carrer de la Unió: Heading toward the theater district.
4. La Rambla: The wide, tree-lined boulevard.
5. Carrer de l’Hort del Torrella / Carrer del Bisbe Campins.
6. Carrer de Rubén Darío.
7. Passeig de Mallorca.
8. Avinguda de Jaume III: One of the best spots for shopping and viewing.
End: The parade usually concludes near Casal Solleric or continues to Plaza de Cort (Town Hall) for the official royal greeting.
Palma, the capital city of Mallorca, hosts the largest and most spectacular parade on the island. Easily accessible by public transport, visitors can take buses or taxis from any part of the island to reach Palma. If you're staying in Palma, the parade route is within walking distance from most central hotels.
